Each summer more than one hundred Adult Basic Skills educators, literacy colleagues, and graduate students attend the Institutes at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. The Institute program focuses on planning and presenting effective professional development to enhance instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics for adult learners.

Institute is an investment in the future of adult education! Institute provides professional development, which affects adult educators at all levels: administrators, directors, trainers, instructors, literacy volunteers, and graduate students. You may choose to take Institute as a workshop or as a graduate level course where you can earn three semester hours of graduate credit.
